MST Endoscopy Archetypes

INTRO

This page is about my current research on modelling of the Minimal Standard Terminology in Digestive Endoscopy (MST) which is the official terminology of OMED (The World Association of Endoscopists).
This work differs from mainstream archetype modelling in a way that I am trying to create a very specialised clinicial model which can be considered as a "Minimal Data Set"; whereas archetype modelling so far can be thought of creating "Maximal Data Sets". In fact I'm trying to do both because I need to have a complete model of a decent endoscopy report at the end of the day...So that I can implement a real clinically usable piece of software.

The actual implementation project which is funded by the University of Auckland via a research grant is hosted at sourceforge.net

Here are my golden principles (or requirements):

1) Keep the constraints as per MST as much as possible at the ARCHETYPE level - not delegating ANYTHING to Application/Runtime and try to avoid constraining with Templates either.
2) Keep the number and complexity of archetypes low
3) Be faithful to the original structure of MST during modelling. Also try to follow GUI oriented organisation where possible, following the design of GASTROS in general.

Others:

4) To position the very detailed "Minimal Data Set" into a highest generic "Maximal Data Set" possible. In other words
ensure the usage of MST together with the least number of other data elements needed for a decent endoscopy report.
