Cluster

A grouping of elements and their data values. Clusters can contain clusters

Data types

Text

This datatype can be free text or coded. Coding may be specified within the archetype, and then bound to a terminology, or bound to a subset of a terminology.

Any

The datatype is not constrained and can be set to any datatype by the application (or user).

Choice

This datatype is not set but limited to a constrained choice.

Count or integer

This datatype allows whole numbers.

Date and time, Date or Time

This datatype allows dates, dates and times or just times to be captured.

Duration

This datatype allows durations of time to be captured using one or more units. (e.g. '5 days, 2 hours' or '26 weeks, 3 days')

Interval

This datatype allows intervals of Counts, Dates and Quantities

Multimedia

This datatype allows data defined elsewhere to be captured (such as images, word documents and sounds).

Ordinal

This datatype allows a number to be associated with text so that the value can be interpreted numerically or texturally (such as 1=mild, 2=moderate and 3=severe).

Quantity

This data type allows capture of data that is measured and has units (e.g. '5 kg' or '120 mmHg').

Proportion

This datatype allows 2 numbers to be captured and then represented as a ratio, fraction, % or integer fraction (e.g. 1:2, 1/2, 5%, 1 1/2).

True or False

This datatype allows the capture of a true or false value.

URI

The datatype allows the capture of a web address or path to data within this electronic health record.
