Re: Archetype implementation for scheduling and financial information
Hi Jesus,
Sorry for the delay in replying. I wanted to chat it over with Heather Leslie first.
We both feel that although some of this information might originally come directly from clinical records of the dialysis procedure, for your purposes it is essentially administrative and includes aspects that would not normally be regarded as a health record e.g financial, billing information.
We would model this, almost as you presented it, as one or two ADMIN_ENTRY archetypes e.g.
Dialysis_serviceBilling_information
- Initial date,
- Discharge Date
- Starting hour
- Number of hours per sesssion
- Charge
- Supplement
- Total charge
My comment about 'scheduling information' is that , I would normally regard 'scheduling' as the process and set of instructions to arrange for a service which, whilst the information you are dealing with is the record of the sessions that were actually performed.

Dear Ian,
Thanks for your answer.
Initial date: refers to the first session that the patient had in the dialysis hospital.
Shift:provides information about when are the sessions done. There are a two different shifts at the moment, but some changes can be made if we add more hospitals:
1-Monday,Wednesday, Friday
2-Tuesday,Thursday,Saturday
Sorry can you explain a little more about what you said about the "scheduling information", I didn't understand very well what you mean by "This is really a record of the dialysis procedure". What archetype would fit for this concept or in what entry class I should work?
Kind Regards
Jesus2010/2/24 Ian McNicoll <Ian.McNicoll@oceaninformatics.com>Hi Jesus,
Financial and billing information tends to be very localised and I think you would be better to develop a new local ADMIN_ENTRY archetype for the financial information.
The 'scheduling info' is a little more difficult. This is not really scheduling, which I would think of as instructions to define the timing of the procedure. This is really a record of the dialysis procedure, which is an Action but depending on the exact data being reported might be better regarded as really another bit of administrative reporting information, derived from the original clinical record of the dialysis session.
I'm not sure I completely understand the attributesCan you give some more information about these please?
- Initial date, - is this the date of the current session or the initial data of ALL the sessions
- Shift - not sure what this means

_______________________________________________Dear all,
My name is Jesus Hernández .I'm trying to develop a template based in archetypes for a patient referral from our specialist in our hospital to a dialysis hospital. Although the patient would be treated in the dialysis hospital, we will continue taken care of him therefore we need to share information between both hospitals. The dialysis sessions are scheduled in the dialysis hospital, these sessions will keep ongoing maybe for years in the dialysis hospital but every month they have to send us information about the number of sessions, schedule, number of hours, etc. because we are still in charge of the patient and we need to pay the sessions to the dialysis hospital. As you can imagine every month they send us a summary about the patient sessions, and now I am struggling with the OpenEHR archetypes to try to send the schedule and finantial information.
I need to share the following information for scheduling:For finantial
- Initial date,
- Discharge Date (This will record only the cases that the patient doesn't need more dialysis sessions, e.g. Patient has moved or has had a transplant),
- Shift
- Starting hour
- Number of hours per sesssion
- Charge
- Supplement
- Total charge
I am trying to use the "follow up action archetipe" to identify a dialysis session but I couldn't know how to include all the scheduling information that I need, I know about the pathway for an action but I don't know how to implement it in the template or archetype. About the finantial information, I only found the "finantial class" and the "charge price indicator" in the "Patient admission archetype" but I am not sure if it would be better define a new archetype.
Kind Regards
Jesus
